Unlock the Power of Email: Your Secret Weapon for Packed Webinars

Hi, friend. 👋

Welcome to Issue #156 of All About Email!

Last week, I shared your “Top 10” newsletters from the previous six months by engagement.

This was unique as it contained many newsletters from “Mail Mondays,” which was the name of this newsletter before the rebrand!

This week, I'm sharing my final summer guest post from Megan Boshuyzen! ☀️

I’m so excited to share her guest post!!

Megan has become a friend over the last couple of years and is one of the best email developers around (and she’s so much more than that).

Let’s go! 👇

Hello! I’m Megan Boshuyzen, the Senior Email Developer at Sinch Email.

I develop the lifecycle marketing emails for Sinch Mailgun, Sinch Mailjet, and Sinch Email on Acid.

I host the web show “Notes from the Dev”, and write the newsletter “it depends”.

As a graphic designer turned email developer, I believe that well-designed emails can transform the way businesses communicate with their customers and create positive change.

Let’s talk about email marketing to drive registrations for your event or webinar. 👇

Decide on your Cadence

Planning out an email campaign for an event can be tricky, as there are many variables to consider!

🗓️ In my opinion, starting 6-8 weeks out is best, with increasing email frequency as you get closer to the event.

If your registrations are low, don’t worry; more people will sign up as the date gets closer.

⚡️ These early emails are about grabbing registrations from your super users and creating general event awareness.

Pay attention to how your subscribers interact with the emails — you’ll probably notice that most registrations come the week before and the day before the event begins!

A wide-aspect-ratio digital artwork in a comic strip style, illustrating the power of email in promoting webinars. The image is divided into several panels, each featuring diverse male and female characters of different racial origins. The panels depict scenes of people sending emails, recipients opening them with excitement, and a large virtual audience attending the webinar. The artwork is vibrant and bold, with exaggerated expressions and dynamic action lines, capturing the effectiveness of email in driving successful webinar promotions.

Use a Theme to Draw Attention

🥳 This isn’t always necessary, but having a fun theme can draw people to your event. We develop a fun idea for Sinch Email Camp each year and relate it to email.

We’ve done:

💪 This is a great opportunity to flex your creative muscles and get your audience excited!

While going totally off-brand isn’t always possible, think about where you can push the limits and delight your customers.

Email-Adjacent: Go to where Your People Are

🧠 Make sure you have people hanging out in those email-adjacent spaces.

When we’re ready to promote events, we send out our emails and also post in the appropriate places, such as emailgeeks Slack and LinkedIn.

You’ll see this will help with event reach and drive both list growth and event registrations.

Need more ideas on how to boost your email and multi-channel marketing? Email Camp registration is live now and is a completely free event!

Come hang out. I’d love to see you there!

That’s it for this week 👋
