Issue #153 All About Email

Part Two - Email Love Figma Plugin → HTML Email Builder

Hi, friend. 👋

Welcome to Issue #153 of All About Email!

Last week, I shared my fourth summer guest post from Vicky Smith, a fellow email geek, voice of reason, and sounding board.

🔊 Beehiiv also released a new audio feature for emails, which I added to Vicky’s guest post and all my previous newsletters. It’s not perfect, but Brian is very cool.

This week, we continue our mini-series on the new Email Love Figma plugin. You can catch up now if you missed the first in our series.

Let’s go! 👇

Email Love Figma Plugin → HTML Email Builder

Andrew King from Email Love gave us a quick demo of the plugin.

💶 Remember, to get started, Figma is free to use, and you only need the free plan to take the Email Love Figma to HTML Builder for a spin.

We won’t be diving into the plugin ourselves yet, so this is a great place to get started and tease what’s coming up in the next part of our series. 👇

Inspiration

🎨 Before we look at the plugin, Email Love has a fantastic (and growing) template library to get you started.

Let’s face it friend, starting something new can be daunting, so these resources help remove that pressure:

  • All templates are currently free.

  • All templates integrate easily with Klaviyo and Mailchimp.

There are some other resources included which aren’t templates.

One of my favourites is the “Ultimate Email Design System”, and if you don’t know how valuable “Components“ and an “Email Design System” can be, check out part one of our mini-series.

Help Centre

💡 Something that I’ve found buried away in small print but is very helpful to read before you get started with the plugin is the Help Centre.

Make sure you check out:

Discord Support

⚡️ Being an elder millennial, I’ve not used Discord much (think of a Slack rival), but even the free version of the Figma plugin from Email Love gives you access to:

  • Email Support

  • Discord Community

The Discord Community is currently small as the plugin/community grows, which is excellent as it’s easy to follow and it’s divided into four channels:

  • Email Love Figma Plugin

    • Support - Very impressive so far, and it’s great to see! 🙌

    • Feature Requests

These next channels are part of the wider Email Love Community.

  • Email Love Community

    • Introductions - I got a warm one, and it’s always nice to feel welcome. 🔥

    • Roast My Email - No one has been brave enough to do this yet (including me). 🤭

Updates

The Discord Community is a great place to make feature requests and get updates on what’s new.

🥳 Within a month, the plugin has shipped two significant updates (partly based on community feedback), which is terrific.

🤓 All updates seem to be going into the “introductions” channel, which could make them hard to follow as the community grows.

It would be nice to see these move to their own channel.

That’s it for this week 👋

⏭️ Next week, we have our fifth (and possibly final 😉) guest post of the summer as Larissa Uredi talks about “KlavChimpWeber”…I’ll leave you with that thought. 🤭

⏭️ ⏭️ The week after, we will conclude our mini-series on the Email Love Figma plugin as I dive into using the plugin itself. (maybe even with an email built using the plugin). 🤔
