Issue #146 All About Email
Use email marketing to keep the wheels rolling in your “Circular Marketing.”
Hi, friend. 👋
Welcome to Issue #146 of All About Email!
🚨 Technically, this is Issue #2 of “All About Email” (my rebranding of Mail Mondays), and this is the first time I’m sending an entire campaign from Beehiiv.
Last week, we discussed updates to Google and Yahoo’s free email deliverability tools.
💪 A massive thanks to all of you who replied to last week’s newsletter. Your replies help stop this new domain from going to junk.
🫠 (Sadly, Apple Mail joined Microsoft at the “junk mail party” they were not invited to, so there is still some work to do).
This week, I'm sharing my first guest post of the summer. It's about using email marketing to keep the wheels rolling in your “Circular Marketing.”
Let’s go! 👇
Lindsey Carroll | Lindsey established Outbox in 2006 after immigrating from the UK to New Zealand, with a pioneering spirit driven by her passion for leveraging virtual work environments and cutting-edge cloud technologies. As a Mailchimp Pro Partner and Chartered Marketer, she specialises in Mailchimp and WordPress. She harnesses these platforms to propel businesses forward and consistently embraces new tools and strategies to serve her clients better. |
Take it away, Lindsey! 🎉
Use email marketing to keep the wheels rolling in your “Circular Marketing.”
Think of a wagon wheel, not the chocolatey biscuits (which were much bigger when we were kids than they are today), but an actual big wooden wagon wheel.
Look at the central hub. Do you see how all the spokes firmly connect there?
In marketing terms:
That central hub is your website, landing page or shop.
All your promotional activities are the spokes.
I call this method “Circular Marketing” - if you keep the wheel moving by driving marketing activities, you will see results.
Email is a massive driver in moving this wheel
📧 By sending relevant content that drives your readers to your website or landing page, you are helping increase the critical touch points they experience with your brand.
Consistent visits will also help with organic SEO and regularly remind the reader of your offer. This way, they have a record of your details in their inbox, and your site is saved in their web history, too.
📈 You’ll also start to gain data about them - all this extra value from just one email.
When you ask a reader to 'click' on a link, you learn more about them.
What interests them?
What do they like to buy?
Do they like offers or education?
If you start building a data history, you can improve your automation.
🤓 Learning what motivates people to open your email is powerful for your marketing strategy.
Update your website
Updating your website should be a relatively quick and straightforward process.
🌱 Regularly adding fresh content, such as a new blog, extra product info, a short "how-to" video, or photos of the team's fundraising efforts, helps search engines and your human customers see you're active and engaged.
Creating content is getting easier and quicker; use AI to help or dictate your most asked FAQs, and you immediately have a supply to start with for blogs.
If you are a shop or product-based business, highlight the items you want to sell the most.
🧠 By doing this, you are giving yourself prime content for your email.
Better still, the email can be concise, with an introduction and a BIG call to action button leading them directly to the blog, product, or video you wish to promote.
“Rinse and Repeat” regularly, and you will soon find contacts, sales and SEO increase.
That’s it for this week 👋
👏 A big thank you to Lindsey for guest authoring this week’s newsletter. Throughout the summer, we will have regular guest authors:
Robin Adams
Emily Ryan
Vicky Smith
Elizabeth Jacobi
