Issue #145 All About Email

"Yoogle" Deliverability Tools Updated

Hi, friend. 👋

Welcome to Issue #145 of All About Email!

🚨 Technically, this is Issue #1 of “All About Email” (my rebranding of Mail Mondays), and this is the first time I’m sending an entire campaign from Beehiiv.

Last week, I made a big mistake when relaunching this very newsletter. 🤦‍♂️ It’s a mistake you will not want to make . So, if you missed it, make sure you read it.

This week, we discuss updates to Google and Yahoo’s free email deliverability tools.

Let’s go! 👇

A Quick Note

🙏 I’m going to have to ask for your forgiveness for a few weeks as I find my feet with the Beehiiv editor (it’s wonderful, but it’s not drag and drop).

I also need to set up a template and colour scheme for All About Email, but I haven’t finished the branding yet. 😬

So, some content you usually see might be missing a bit, and today’s issue is a little later than usual.

A photo-realistic image depicting the concept of email deliverability. The image shows a digital mailbox on a computer screen with various icons representing emails being successfully delivered and some being bounced back. There are green checkmarks and red exclamation marks next to the emails to indicate delivery success and failure, respectively. The background includes a subtle network and cloud elements to signify internet connectivity, giving a professional and tech-savvy feel.

“Yoogle” Deliverability Tools Updates

🤔 Not sure what “Yoogle” means ? Yahoo + Google = Yoogle

(We won’t be able to call it that much longer as Microsoft enters the scene.)

In Issue #127 of Mail Mondays (aka All About Email), we took a deep dive into Google Postmaster Tools and the Yahoo Sender Hub:

  • Why do you need these free tools

  • How to set them up

Since then, both tools received updates. 🎉

Google Postmaster Tools

Google has released an initial version two of Postmaster Tools, which you can access via a link at the top of your existing Postmaster Tools.

We've updated our compliance status dashboard to service more users. Senders with smaller sending volumes will be able to check and monitor their compliance with Gmail's email sender requirements.

In Issue #127 of Mail Mondays (All About Email), I showed you a video with a walkthrough of the existing Postmaster Tools dashboard.

The new dashboard is a little thin on the ground, allowing me to show you everything in a screenshot. 👇

A compliance status dashboard with requirements and statuses for each. The screenshot shows a compliance pass for every criteria except the user-reported spam rate..

🚨 Yes, I have an “apparent“ issue with my spam for this brand new domain, which is frustrating, and I'm looking forward to investigating and solving it.

⚠️ It would really help me if you could reply to this email to help raise my domain authority and help get these emails into your inbox.

ℹ️ There isn’t much information on the dashboard about what each requirement means (unless you have an issue), so if you need more information, this help document has you covered.

Yahoo Sender Hub

🎉 For me, this is the best update of both tools (you can read more on the Yahoo announcement post).

With the tool being out of beta, there is no application, no waiting around (or rejection in my case), and it’s available for everyone.

Three simple steps to monitor compliance:

  1. Create your Sender profile

  2. Add and verify your domain

  3. Enroll your domain

Yahoo Sender Hub signup form which allows you to easily sign up for services, track service status and manage your domains all in one place. The information fields required are Company Name, Job Title, Contact Email, DKIM Domain and Terms of Service acceptance.

Enrolling a domain and adding it to the Complaint Feedback Loop is easy, too.

That’s it for this week 👋

😎 After running a successful guest series last summer. I will be running an expanded version this year.

✍️ First up is Lindsey Carroll from Outbox. Lindsey will discuss how to “use email marketing to keep the wheels rolling in your “Circular Marketing.”
