Issue #165 All About Email

It's Time to Tame the Beast!

Hi, friend. šŸ‘‹

Welcome to Issue #165 of All About Email!

Last weekwe answered whether you should ā€œlink outā€ from your email to the complete content or keep everything in your email.

This week, we start a mini-series. It is not a last-minute BFCM guide; no, no, this is something much more useful. šŸ˜‰ šŸ¤£

Letā€™s go! šŸ‘‡

A Little Inspiration

Two weeks ago, I delivered not one but two workshops on email marketing and two platform-specific providers, Mailchimp and Klaviyo, on the same day.

It was quite the day, and I put a tonne of work into both workshops. I never deliver the same workshop twiceand I received some fantastic feedback! šŸ‘‡

ā

ā€œFirst time at one of these workshops and I thought it was excellent. Really good value and such a good use of my afternoon. The level of detail we got down to in that small group setting was fantastic. Our trainer was exceptionally knowledgeable, and also a great communicator. I'm leaving armed with actionable insights. Thank you!ā€

šŸ¤” I wondered: ā€œWhy not share this content with my newsletter audienceā€¦and expand it?ā€

Thatā€™s precisely what we will do, friend.

ā¤ļø For those who know me, I love a mini-series, but they can get boring, so I will break up the series with other content (more on that at the bottom of this email).

āš  What wonā€™t I be covering? Thatā€™s easyā€¦the two platforms, Mailchimp and Klaviyo.

Taming the Email Beast

Now, letā€™s ā€œdiveā€ into what I will cover in this mini-series, as Email Marketing has become a bit of a beast.

šŸ™ A beast that shouldnā€™t be feared but treated with respect.

If you do the following, email marketing will still be challenging, but the beast will be for you and not against you:

  • The deliverability Gods

  • Your audience (donā€™t spam)

  • Test, iterate and learn

A whimsical illustration showing a cheerful pirate crew aboard a ship on a vibrant, animated ocean. The crew interacts playfully with a cute, email-shaped sea monster with large, curious eyes and tentacles made of swirling symbols. The scene is lighthearted, using soft, bright colors and a warm, cinematic style inspired by childrenā€™s animated movies.

Mini-Series Outline

šŸŽ‰ The workshops lasted for three hours, so we will cover a lot of content in this mini-series, and Iā€™m so excited. Letā€™s see what the next few weeks have ahead.

āš”ļø Some topics might involve more than one issue; in other weeks, we will combine multiple topics into one (weā€™ll see how things go).

These are the topics we will cover:

  • Introduction (this week)

  • Tips & Best Practices for data

  • Deliverability Basics

  • Email List Growth

  • Email Flow Basics

  • Building Consistency in your email marketing

  • Measuring Performance

  • Dear Apple

  • Accessibility

  • Tools & Resources

What is YOUR biggest challenge?

So, friend, between now and next week (and throughout this mini-series), I would love to hear from you:

  • What is your biggest challenge in email marketing right now, in this moment?

  • What do you struggle with on an ongoing basis?

  • What email skill do you not have but wish you did?

šŸ“§ Just reply to this email and let me know.

Thatā€™s it for This Week šŸ‘‹

āļø Next week, we will continue our mini-series as we look at Tips & Best Practices for data.

šŸŽ„ Looking to the future, the last regular newsletter before the holidays will be hitting inboxes on Monday, December 16th.

We will then be taking a two-week break for the holidays (but I have something special planned if you are up for it, friend), with the regular newsletter returning on Monday, December 30th.

šŸŽ‰ December 30th is one of my favourite newsletters, the year's last newsletter! If youā€™ve been a subscriber for a while, you might be able to guess what that email will be about.

See you next week! šŸ˜€

Sponsorship Opportunities

šŸšØ If youā€™re interested in sponsoring the ā€œAll About Emailā€ newsletter, you can find all the details in this Google Doc. I currently have ā€œClassifiedā€ slots and a Main Sponsor slot available.

šŸ§  On that noteā€¦Iā€™ve learned a lot about payment gateways, multiple currencies and the headaches that accompany them. Iā€™ll be writing about those very soon in my LinkedIn newsletterā€¦yes, I have one of those too. šŸ¤£
